Homeowner Fatally Shoots Hammer-Wielding Burglar In Mercer County: Prosecutor
The Trenton man was banging on the front door and smashing a Ring camera with a hammer before entering the home, said authorities.
TRENTON, NJ — A Trenton homeowner fired multiple gunshots and killed a person who entered his home after banging on his front door and smashing his Ring camera with a hammer, said Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri on Tuesday.
At around 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, Trenton Police went to Bert Avenue on a shooting in progress.
Trenton detectives in the area on an unrelated assignment found the victim on the ground on St. Francis Avenue.

The victim, identified as Andray Ingram, 34, of Trenton, had a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, said Onofri.
A preliminary investigation found that a Bert Avenue homeowner fired multiple shots with a gun he had in his home at an unknown person with a hammer who was banging on his front door and smashing his Ring camera.

The person, identified as Ingram, had entered the home in the vestibule area at the time the shots were fired, said Onofri.
No charges have been filed and an investigation by Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department is ongoing.
