James J. Groome, 77

The youngest of three children of James Bernard Groome and Agnes Maguire of Philadelphia, Penn., he was born April 20, 1934. He was a graduate of Girard College and LaSalle College and did graduate work at the University of Michigan.

Groome began his career as a staff writer for the magazine of the Pennsylvania Railroad and held marketing positions at Sun Oil Company and Burroughs Corporation before joining the founding management team of GeoDatic Corporation. In 1971, he joined the American Hotel & Motel Association, where he served as director of marketing, until 1987, when he founded a consulting company that bore his name.

James is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children Kimberly, James and Kevin, and nine grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, in Princeton. Burial followed at Princeton Cemetery.
