Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden Plan The Biggest Party Like It’s Your Earth Day Celebration To Date
The Largest Earth Day Event in Princeton returns for its 3rd year

[Princeton, NJ]: On April 27, 2025, Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum will welcome an anticipated 600 community members to their third annual “Party Like It’s Your Earth Day'' community green fair. This free public event offers programming the whole family can enjoy.

New activities include entertainment from beloved Johnson Park Elementary teacher and DJ, James Myricks, as well as an all-ages book swap hosted by the Princeton Public Schools. Sustainable Princeton will be hosting its first-ever Trashion Show, featuring clothing made from items that would have otherwise been thrown away. Princeton University's MEND club will offer clothing repair demonstrations using battery-powered sewing machines from the SP Lending Library. Helpsy will also be present to collect clean, used clothing in any condition for recycling and redistribution.

Gratitude Yoga is returning for its third year to kick the day off with a free outdoor yoga session on the lawn. Other programming include a meet and greet with live chickens, a cappella performances from Princeton High School’s Around 8 group, table games, crafts and activities presented by local community organizations including Friends of Princeton Open Space, the Princeton Public Library, the Arts Council of Princeton, Princeton Environmental Commission, Princeton University’s Office of Sustainability, the Watershed Institute and so much more! Morven’s horticulturists will also be continuing their tradition of taking guests on free tours of Morven’s historic gardens.

In addition to expanded programming, this year’s Party Like It’s Your Earth Day will pilot a low-waste, plant-based “food court” featuring local food vendors using reusable serviceware from ReDish.

“We’re excited to make this our lowest-waste, large-scale event to date! To minimize the event’s environmental impact, we’ve worked with the food vendors and ReDish to serve food and drinks with reusable plates and cups. We’ll also have food scraps and recycling collection on site, but we want to focus on reducing waste at the source. We also encourage attendees to bike, walk, take public transit, or carpool to the event,” said Christine Symington, Executive Director of Sustainable Princeton. “We can all have fun as a community while living by our shared goal of making this community and this planet better for future generations.”

“Between environmentally friendly art-making, composting chickens, education about waste and recycling, a fabulous 'Trashion Show,' music, food, and more, this year’s community green has something for everyone,” Greer Luce, Curator of Education and Public Programs, said. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Sustainable Princeton on this amazing event.”

Most historic sites celebrate one notable resident. Morven is unique in that it was home to many remarkable people. Built in the 1750s and home to one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Richard Stockton, Morven was home to five generations of Stocktons, then Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. before becoming New Jersey’s first Governor’s Mansion and home to five New Jersey governors, their families and staffs, witnessing nearly 300 years of history.
