March Madness 2015: President Barack Obama Looks on as Princeton Advances in NCAA Tournament

Princeton improved to 31-0 with a win over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The Princeton women’s basketball team won its first NCAA tournament game in history on Saturday, when it defeated the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 80-70, to improve to 31-0 and advance to the second round in the Spokane Regional.

Princeton, the No. 8 seed in the region, will face No. 1 seed Maryland in the second round Monday night, 6:30 p.m. Maryland defeated No. 16 New Mexico State, 75-57, on Saturday.

Michelle Miller led the way for the Tigers with 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Annie Tarakchian had a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds, in addition to five assists and a steal.

Alex Wheatley also had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go with two assists.

Blake Dietrick dropped 11 points, grabbed three rebounds, and had five assists and a steal.

Obama’s niece, Leslie Robinson, didn’t play.

The president sat a few rows up from the floor, behind the Princeton bench, according to ESPN. The game was played at the University of Maryland.

Earlier this week, Obama picked Princeton, the only undefeated team in NCAA Division I women’s basketball, to advance to the Final Four.
