Mercer County Park Facilities Win Awards

The Park Commission facilities were recognized under the category of Attractions and Recreation within New Jersey.

Three Mercer County facilities have been named 2014 Jersey Choice/Best of New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine, the Mercer County Park Commission announced on Tuesday.

Mercer Oaks, Mercer Meadows and Mercer Lake won recognition as the result of an online poll that asked readers to vote each month for a different category on njmonthly.com.

The Park Commission facilities were recognized under the category of Attractions and Recreation within New Jersey.

Mercer Oaks was named Best Golf Course.

Mercer Meadows was named Best Hiking Trail.

Mercer Lake (within Mercer County Park) was named Best Lake.

The Mercer County Tennis Center also received honors from Tennis Industry magazine and was named Tennis Industry’s 2014 Park of the Year.

The Tennis Center, located in Mercer County Park, has indoor and outdoor courts available for play and also offers lesson and leagues for all ages and abilities.

“We take great pride in our Park Commission facilities and the array of programs we offer to visitors of all ages,” Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said. “We have some of the best facilities in the State of New Jersey, and these accolades show that Mercer County Park visitors agree.”

“I am very proud of the awards we have received and pleased with the Park Commission staff that has worked hard to make all of our facilities the best,” Kevin Bannon, Park Commission Executive Director said. “We strive every day to make our customers’ visits and experiences at our facilities one of a kind and it is an honor to be recognized as the best in the state.”
