Some additional winter weather could be on the way Sunday, and the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook in parts of New Jersey, saying some additional winter weather could be on the way Sunday. According to forecasters, a mix of freezing rain and snow is possible tonight.

"Any minor ice accumulations may lead to slick spots," the National Weather Service said in the alert. Drivers should use caution, and be aware of potentially slippery conditions, forecasters warn.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect in Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth and Mercer counties.

It would be the second occurrence of snow this weekend. Enough light snow fell Friday evening to cause traffic disruptions and cancel events.

Once this system passes, the area will have a reprieve from winter weather for a few days. Temperatures Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are predicted to be in the 40s and 50s. There is no additional chances for snow in the extended forecast; some rain is possible late in the week.

Meanwhile, forecasters have begun eyeing conditions for Christmas week. "There is the potential for a 2,200-mile-long stretch of unsettled weather and travel disruptions to set up in the central to eastern United States in the days surrounding Christmas," Accuweather said.

As of now, due to milder temperatures expected, a white Christmas does not look likely in New Jersey. We'll have more details on that as the holidays approach.
