Anonymous Donor Funds Internet, Child Care For Princeton Families

Qualifying families will receive Internet access and child care for the entire school year.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Public Schools received an anonymous donation to provide low income families with Internet access and child care, the district announced Thursday.

Earlier this week, the district entered into an agreement with Comcast and T-Mobile, who will provide around 200 families with unlimited wireless data at their homes, for the entire school year.

Both companies are offering discounted internet service for qualifying families, and the school district will cover the cost through the grant made by the anonymous donor.

The district has also partnered with the Princeton YMCA to provide child care for low income families during the remote learning period, and when they move to the hybrid model.

Beginning Sep. 14, around 40 qualifying students will receive safe and monitored child care at Pannell Center and Crimmins Center. This project too has been funded by the anonymous donor.

"The funder's generosity will make a significant impact on the lives of students and families," interim superintendent Barry Galasso told Patch in a statement.
