New COVID-19 Testing Site Opens In Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ — With COVID-19 testing in high demand these days, the Princeton Health Department is collaborating with Ridgewood Diagnostic Center to open a new testing facility for residents.

On Monday, Jan. 24, a new testing site opened at 237 N. Harrison Street, at the old Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad building.

The testing center will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The site will take both walk-ins and appointments.

Mercer County recently saw a decline in new infections. However, the COVID-19 activity report, ending Jan. 15 places Mercer County at "very high" risk for COVID-19 transmission. At the "very high" risk level, more than 25 out of every 100,000 people were estimated to have the virus.

As of last Friday, Mercer County reported 467 new confirmed COVID-19 cases — a 46.6 percent decrease from the week before.

Statewide, New Jersey is also seeing a steady drop in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations following a surge earlier this month. But Gov. Phil Murphy noted that the number of cases is a "dramatic undercount" since many residents testing at home and are not reporting those cases,
