N.J. Native Selected As Rhodes Scholar

A total of four Princeton University students were named as 2016 Rhodes Scholars.

A Princeton University student and New Jersey native has been selected as a Rhodes Scholar for 2016.

Evan Soltas, 22, of Rumson was one of 32 people selected for the prestigious honor.

He made the announcement via Twitter.

Soltas, a economics major, attended the Marine Academy of Science and Technology in Sandy Hook before transferring to Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire NJ.com reported.

He will study statistics and machine learning at Oxford, he told NJ.com.

He was a contributor to Bloomberg View and to Vox and also wrote for Ezra Klein’s Wonkblog at The Washington Post.

Three other Princeton University students were named Rhodes Scholars, including Katherine K. Clifton of Hawaii, Cameron M. Platt of California and Richard J. Lu of Missouri.
