Princeton Actor To Star In Regional Premiere Of ‘The Bodyguard’

Toby Miller will perform at the White Plains Performing Arts Center in New York from April 26 to May 12.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton actor Toby Miller will be performing in the regional premiere of the White Plains Performing Arts Center’s Mainstage production of "The Bodyguard."

The stage performance runs from April 26 through May 12 in Westchester County, New York and is based on the 1992 movie featuring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

The romantic thriller follows a former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love. The Bodyguard features many of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits including: "I Have Nothing," "One Moment in Time," "Run to You," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and the iconic "I Will Always Love You."

Miller called the musical "terrific" because of the high caliber of performers and even having live music on stage.

This isn’t the first time Miller has worked with WPPAC. He previously appeared in their production of Tarzan.

But his performing career can be linked back to his high school days. Miller, son of former Princeton mayor Bernie Miller, began performing stage shows while at John Witherspoon Middle School. He also participated in choir where he started singing and performing shows with the drama department in high school.

"While in high school I heard about professionals who went on from Princeton High School to make it big," Miller said. "I really took performing full on after hearing those stories."

Miller has done a little bit of everything from Shakespeare to stage production but prefers musicals.

"Musicals are really what my focus is," Miller said. " My interest in musicals can be traced back to being in choir."
