Princeton B&B Falls One Vote Shy of Approval

PRINCETON, NJ - A plan to open a bed & breakfast just outside Princeton fell one vote shy of approval this week from the municipal Zoning Board, according to The Princeton Packet.

Laura Edwards sought to convert her four-bedroom home on Cherry Hill Road into a B&B; currently, there are no B&Bs in Princeton. She would have used two bedrooms in the house and converted two more bedrooms in an old horse barn on the property. However, she needed to apply for a variance from the zoning board for commercial use of a building in a residential section of town.

Additionally, her neighbors Sonja and Paul Lips and Le Tao and Xuejun Xu, raised concerns that a B&B would cause traffic, lower property values and reduce their privacy. Her application received four votes, and needed five.
