Princeton BOE Begins Interview Process For Next Superintendent

The school district has received more than 60 applications. Interim superintendent Barry Galasso is not applying for the permanent position.

PRINCETON, NJ – The Princeton Board of Education has begun interviewing candidates for the position of next school superintendent.

Barry Galasso is currently serving as interim superintendent, after Steve Cochrane’s departure on June 30.

More than 60 applicants have indicated their interest by applying for the position.

"The Board of Education takes our responsibility to select a new superintendent very seriously, and we are enthusiastically engaged in a collaborative and rigorous interview process," Board Member Betsy Baglio, said in a statement.

According to Princeton officials, many of the applicants are currently employed as superintendents in other school districts. The process though, remains confidential.

Galasso is not applying for the permanent position. The board is targeting a July 1, 2021 start date for a new superintendent.
