Princeton Council To Consider Civil Rights Commission Appointments During Reorganization Meeting
Princeton's reorganization meeting is set for Wednesday, 5 p.m., at the municipal building.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Council will consider nine appointments for the re-launched Civil Rights Commission during its reorganization meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 5 p.m. at the Princeton Municipal Building, Witherspoon Hall, Main Meeting Room, 400 Witherspoon Street, 5 p.m.
“I’m excited about the launch of this important commission, and I’m especially thrilled with the diversity of residents who have volunteered to serve, and the expertise they bring to the table,” Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert said in an email Tuesday morning.
- Donna Tatro — Not in Our Town member; serves on the LGBT Employee Resource Group and the University's Transgender Advisory Committee;
- Susan Fiske — Professor and world-renowned expert on bias, stereotypes and discrimination;
- David Campbell — Clinical Psychologist at the University Health Services; Co-Chair University Health Services Diversity and Inclusion Implementation Advisory Council ; Campus Life Diversity & Inclusion Committee Member;
- Leticia Fraga – Chair of the Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund, formerly served in the Civil Rights Office of Kings County in Washington state;
- Pastor Karen Hernandez-Granzen -- Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Trenton; trained in Intergroup Dialogue and Mediation;
- Kiki Jamison -- President, The Fund for New Jersey; previously served as president of the Princeton Public Library Board;
- Tommy Parker — Princeton native, former chair of previous Civil Rights Commission; Co-Chair/founding member Association of Black and Latino Employees at Princeton University; Campus Ambassador Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee;
- Afsheen Shamsi — Public Relations Director, CAIR-NJ (Council on American-Islamic Relations); former school board member; and
- Molly Chrein – Public interest attorney; trained mediator; former school board member.
The commission previously existed in the 1990’s, and will have no special authority, according to the Princeton Packet. “Informal conflict resolution and education campaigns” will be the main roles of the group.
