Princeton Day Upper School To Go Remote After Three COVID Cases

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Day Upper School will go remote beginning tomorrow through Wednesday after three high school students tested positive for COVID-19, the school informed Monday evening.

Only the high school will go remote, while the lower and middle school will remain in normal session.

The students tested positive after attending an off-campus event on Thursday, Head of the School Paul J. Stellato, informed the community. “The asymptomatic students were tested this weekend and they immediately contacted the school,” said Stellato.

All athletic practices and games have also been cancelled at the private school.

The lower and middle school students will continue classes uninterrupted.

“We can do this because our three divisions operate in separate “bubbles” and there is minimal contact between the divisions,” Stellato said in his message.

The school said it will use the two days to conduct contact tracing of those who were in “close contact” with the students. Based on the results, the school will take a decision to either resume in-person classes or continue with virtual learning.

“We will reevaluate the status of remote learning on Oct. 14 and communicate once again to our community,” Stellato said.

Everyone who is considered a close contact will have to quarantine for the next 14 days and will return to school only after a negative result. “Also as part of our protocols, we have contacted the Princeton Health Department to notify them of the COVID-19 cases,” he said.
