Princeton Election 2021: Who's Running, How To Vote

The election is on Nov. 2. Check out our voter guide for all the details before you cast your ballot.

PRINCETON, NJ —This fall, there will be elections for town council and school board in Princeton.

This year, early voting will be available for the election. Early voting will begin from Oct. 23 to 31, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Those who participate in early voting won't be allowed to send a mail-in ballot or vote in person on Election Day.

Registered voters also have the option to vote-by-mail. County officials have already sent out mail-in ballots to voters who automatically get one each year, or those who have requested one.

A complete list of secure drop box locations can be found on the County website. All drop boxes are accessible 24 hours a day, and all of them are subject to video surveillance and other security measures.

Voters will also have the option of going to the polls on Election Day. Registered voters can go to their polling place, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and cast their ballots. The state has made accommodations for voters with disabilities. To find your polling station, visit the Mercer County website.

Who's On The Ballot:

Gov. Phil Murphy is facing a challenge from Republican nominee, Jack Ciattarelli, as well as Madelyn Hoffman of the Green Party of New Jersey, Gregg Mele of the New Jersey Libertarian Party, and Joanne Kuniansky of the Socialist Workers Party.

Residents of NJ District 16 which includes Princeton, will vote for the senate and assembly. Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker of South Brunswick is running for Senate and will take on Republican candidate Michael Pappas. Democrats Sadaf Jaffer and Roy Freiman will face Republicans Vincent T. Panico and Joseph A. Lukac III for assembly seats.

Two candidates are running unopposed for two seats on Council —Eve Niedergang and Leighton Newlin.

There is also the Board of Education election in South Brunswick this year. Four candidates are running for three open seats. The candidates are:

  3. Jeffrey Zhi Yang Liao
  4. Mara Franceschi
