Princeton Farmers Market To Close Early On Thursday Due To Heat
Although there is a possibility of showers on Thursday, heat index values are expected to hit 102 in Princeton.
PRINCETON, NJ — The Princeton Farmers Market which is held every Thursday will have an early closing due to excessive heat.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Princeton which will be in effect until 8 p.m. on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to hit 95 degrees during the day, with heat index values as high as 102 degrees.
“For the safety of our vendors, customers and veggies - we have decided to have a shorter market today and will be closing up shop at 1 p.m.,” the organizers said. The market opens at 10 a.m. at Hinds Plaza.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service predict the heat to linger Thursday, and even possibly into Friday. And, there is now a chance for heavy rain and gusty winds of up to 60 miles per hour Thursday afternoon and evening. The chance of storms will also return Friday afternoon.

- Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Saturday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
