Princeton Friends School Donates Proceeds From Book Fair to PBC
After holding a Scholastic Book Fair, Princeton Friends School chose to donate $700 in proceeds and about 500 books to Princeton-Blairstown.

Princeton, NJ – For the past 29 years, the Princeton Friends School (PFS) has partnered with the Princeton-Blairstown Center (PBC). For three days each May, their 1st through 8th grade classes pack up and depart for the Blairstown Campus in northern New Jersey.
Parents, siblings, faculty, and staff join students for this educational, scenic getaway. During the annual Blairstown trip, participants of all ages have the opportunity to explore fields, woodlands, Blair Creek, and Bass Lake, and to challenge themselves with ropes courses and other outdoor adventures led by the Blairstown outdoor staff.
During this year’s annual Blairstown trip, PFS donated the proceeds from their book fair to PBC. After holding a Scholastic Book Fair at the school, they chose to donate $700 in proceeds and about 500 books.

Half of the books will be used to upgrade Peyton Library at Blairstown, and the other half will be given to our Summer Bridge participants to take home.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, “giving students a book at the end of the school year can help stem losses in reading skills.”

The Summer Bridge Program is an intensive five-day-and-four-night educational experience that helps address the “summer learning gap” for at-risk youth and provides an hour of literacy enrichment each day along with STEM and STEAM activities.
PBC’s President & CEO, Pam Gregory, said, “We are so thrilled to have such a deep and long-term partner with the Princeton Friends School. Their commitment to creating a diverse, vibrant learning community in which young people engage their natural curiosity is inspiring and their donation will make a great impact on our Summer Bridge students. Our entire staff looks forward to their visit each year.”
