The Princeton Green House Tour Returns for 2024 With Six Tourable Homes
Presented in partnership by the Princeton Environmental Commission and Sustainable Princeton

[Princeton, NJ]: On September 28th, the Princeton Green House Tour returns for its second year to give residents a chance to tour some of the most sustainable homes in town.

After the success of last year’s tour, this year’s tour features six homes, including two new homes, around town. Tickets are required to enter the homes but are completely free. Tours begin at 10 am and continue through 3 pm with multiple time slots in between. Most homes are within walking distance of downtown Princeton. Participants are encouraged to attend as many or as few tours as they would like, in the order of their choosing.

“Tour-goers will get a chance to learn about solar installations, heat pumps, high-efficiency building design, recycled and natural building materials, sustainable stormwater management, aging in place and so much more. Each home showcases a different aspect of sustainable home design and demonstrates how these forward-thinking designs play a role in making our community more sustainable and more resilient to the effects of climate change.” Said Councilwoman Eve Niedergang who serves as the liaison to the Environmental Commission.

“If our community wants to reach our climate action goals, we need to rapidly increase the energy efficiency and resiliency of our built environment. Princeton’s homes are responsible for about 20% of our community’s greenhouse gas emissions,” said Christine Symington, Executive Director of Sustainable Princeton. “The homes featured on the tours show a variety of ways homeowners can help us reach our emissions reduction and climate resilience goals. They show how investing in green building practices upfront or overtime pay off in the long run for healthier, more efficient, and more comfortable places to live, making the community a cleaner, greener place in the wake of climate change. It’s a win for everyone.”

The 2024 Princeton Green House Tour is hosted in partnership by the Princeton Environmental Commission and Sustainable Princeton. Free tickets are first come, first served and limited to 15 participants per time slot. Participants must be 18 years of age or older to enter the homes.

Walking, biking, and carpooling are highly encouraged to reduce traffic around the homes.
