
The Princeton High girls tennis team will probably always remember one of the closest finishes in Mercer County Tournament history.
Princeton Day School won the team title with 17.5 points, edging out the 16.5 points scored by Princeton High School. The MCT started on Monday and concluded on Sept. 21 at Mercer County Park.
"Obviously, we would have preferred to come in first," Princeton High Coach Sarah Hibbert said. "It was very close. It is what it is."

Princeton picked up a lot of points as both of its doubles teams reached the championship match. Both teams placed second.
Maddie Cahill-Sanidas and Helena Ord were able to force a third set, but ended up losing to a team from Hopewell in the first doubles title match, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2.

Vinita Su and Lena Sun placed second at second doubles. The duo was defeated by Peddie's Hannah Spears and Rebecca Seman in the title match, 6-4, 6-2.
Keely Herring placed third at second singles for Princeton. After a loss in the semifinals, Herring came back to defeat West Windsor South's Margaret MacArthur.
Sara Cen placed fourth at first singles.
Alyssa Taylor did not place at third singles, but she did win a match and score for the team.
"It was a great tournament," Hibbert said. "Most years the team champion is decided by the semifinals. This year it came down to the last match and the last point."
