Princeton High School Football Team Learns Group Classification for 2016

In which group will the Little Tigers compete this year?

Princeton, NJ -- The NJSIAA released its group classifications for the 2016 season last week, and Princeton will remain in North Jersey Section 2, Group 4, according to nj.com.

Groups are set up based on school size and location.

In football, the largest schools are in Group 5, the next largest are in Group 4, etc., down to the smallest classification at Group 1.

Teams qualify for the playoffs based on power points, which are awarded based on strength of schedule. Wins over teams in larger groups are worth more power points than wins over teams in smaller groups.

Princeton competes in the West Jersey Football League’s Patriot Division with Allentown (Central Jersey Group 4), West Windsor-Plainsboro-North (North 2, Group 4), Steinert (South Jersey Group 3), Northern Burlington (Central Jersey Group 4) and Pemberton (South Jersey Group 3).

Princeton was 4-5 last season.

Defending North 2, Group 4 champion Middletown South returns to the group to defend its title this year.
