Princeton Hires Joseph Wenzel as Special Attorney to Handle Personnel Investigations

The hire appears to have its roots in a recent meeting over paid sick leave for municipal employees.

Princeton’s recent hiring of a special attorney to conduct personnel investigations appears to have its roots in an incident that took place during a recent private meeting with Princeton merchants concerning sick leave for municipal employees, Planet Princeton reports.

During that meeting, Princeton Recreation Director Ben Stentz allegedly asked how a proposal to require employers to offer earned sick leave for municipal employees would impact his department, which employs mostly part-time and seasonal workers, according to the report.

Following the meeting, Administrator Marc Dashield allegedly made it clear to Stentz that his question “embarrassed Mayor Liz Lempert,” according to the report.

Stentz allegedly filed a grievance and Princeton hired Clifton-based lawyer Joseph W. Wenzel to handle it, according to the report.

Wenzel obtained his license to practice in New Jersey in 1999, and focuses on local government matters, labor and employment disputes and planning/zoning issues, according to his firm’s website.
