Princeton Hosts Harvard in Battle of Ivy League Football Unbeatens on Saturday

The Tigers defeated the Crimson in triple overtime last year.

First place in the Ivy League is on the line this weekend.

The Princeton University football team (3-2, 2-0) hosts Harvard (5-0, 2-0) at 1 p.m. on Saturday in a matchup between two of the three remaining undefeated teams in conference play. The game will air live on ESPN3.

Dartmouth (4-1, 2-0) is also undefeated in conference play, and hosts Columbia (0-5, 0-2) on Saturday.

The clash between the Tigers and the Crimson might be the biggest game of the season in the conference this year, and is rematch of Princeton’s triple overtime win from last year. Princeton won at Harvard, 51-48.

In 2012, Princeton beat Harvard, 39-34.

Princeton quarterback Quinn Epperly and Harvard running back Andrew Casten have each eight rushing touchdowns in conference play this year, tying them for second place behind Yale running back Tyler Varga (12), according to stats posted on ivyleague.com.

Casten is third in the conference with 84 yards per game, just behind Princeton’s DiAndre Atwater, who is averaging 89.8 yards per game, and has a total of 359. Casten has rushed for 420 total yards.

Epperly also has thrown three touchdown passes, as has Connor Michelsen, who started in last week’s win over Brown. Epperly is fifth in the conference in passing yards per game, with 200. He’s thrown for 800 total yards.

Harvard quarterback Scott Hosch is third in the conference with five touchdown passes. He’s thrown for 1,060 yards and is fourth in the conference in passing yards per game with 212.

Princeton wide receiver Matt Costello has caught four touchdown passes and is averaging 63.8 yards per game. Harvard wide receivers Andrew Fischer and Anthon Firsker have each caught two touchdown passes. Fischer is averaging 61.8 yards per game and Firsker is averaging 57.8.

Harvard’s Zack Hodges leads the conference in sacks with five, while Princeton’s Rohan Hylton is third with 3.5. Hylton is fourth in the conference in tackles with 9.2 per game, and Harvard’s Jacob Lindsey is averaging 7.2.
