Princeton Mom Of 2 Gets Creative With Cakes
Sweta Patel made her first custom cake for her daughter 3 years ago which encouraged her to launch her dessert business recently.
PRINCETON, NJ — What started out as a fun and creative outlet for Sweta Patel’s passions for cakes has since turned into a business.
Patel, a mother of two in Princeton, launched Creative Cakes By Sweta LLC after making her first custom cake for her daughter three years ago.
"I've been making them for friends and family until recently, when I took the plunge into making this passion into business," Patel said. "My business is still part time, as I am still full-time mom and part-time therapist and part time HR consultant."

Patel would learn a little bit at a time and jokingly says she graduated from "YouTube University."
"When a unique request comes my way I try my best to learn how to do it," Patel said. "I watch videos to learn different techniques. Basically I am learning as I go along."

Patel has a commercial kitchen she works out of and is licensed and registered. She offers cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cake pope, pretzel treats and more. All of her sweets are baked to order.
Her sweets are available for all different kinds of occasions including holidays, weddings, baby showers, birthdays, and more. Her cakes can serve from 10 to 70 people, however, Patel noted she is open to making larger cakes as well.
"I put my heart into all of the cakes I made," Patel said. "But the most challenging was one I did recently with a paint bucket and paint falling off. It was a gravity defying one."

Patel also pointed to a cake she did for her daughter’s birthday last year.
"My favorite cake would be one I made for my daughter with an optical illusion design," Patel said. "It was the only time I came close to giving up on a design... the individually cut L shapes took about 500-plus to cover the cake."
