Princeton Police Hosts Winter Coat Drive
Residents are requested to donate winter coats, gloves and hats in good condition for children and adults.
PRINCETON, NJ – Winter is going to be especially hard on the homeless and needy, as socially distant accommodations are going to be hard to come by. On the night of January 28th, 2020, a total of 556 persons, in 431 households, were experiencing homelessness in Mercer County, according to the 2020 Point-In-Time Count.
Although the number of homeless people in Princeton is low compared to other towns, the pandemic has left many families vulnerable due to loss of jobs and inability to pay their utility bills.
As a result, the need for coats this fall and winter will be greater than ever before.
