Princeton Public Library to Distribute Wildflower Seeds May 1-7
Distribution is part of a series of events and exhibition highlighting importance of Pollinators.
Princeton Public Library will give away free wildflower seeds during the week of May 1-7 as part of an ongoing Pollinators and Wildflowers series at the library. The seeds will be available at a display near the Welcome Desk on the first floor of the library.
"We are pleased to offer this series as part of the nationwide #PlantWildflowers campaign,” said Adult Programming Manager Janie Hermann, who led the planning team for this initiative at the library. “Highlighting the critical role bees, butterflies and other pollinators play in a healthy ecosystem is a natural extension of the library's ongoing commitment to sustainability.”
“Pollination Investigation,” a poster exhibit on view in the Reading Room on the second floor of the library through May 30, is the foundation for the series. Upcoming events include:

Tuesday, May 3, 7 p.m., Pollinators for Everyone — Master naturalist Juanita Hummel shares how to help struggling pollinators. Via Zoom. Register through the events calendar at princetonlibrary.org.
Tuesday, May 10, 6:30 p.m., Morven Museum & Garden — Gardening for Butterflies & Historic Garden Stroll. Morven horticulturist Louise Senior shares tips for creating a butterfly haven. The #PlantWildflowers campaign was launched by HHMI Tangled Bank Studios and PBSNature in support of the film "My Garden of a Thousand Bees" as a way to encourage communities across the U.S. to better understand the importance of native bees and other pollinators and to create new pollinator habitats where pollinators can thrive. The library screened the film earlier this month as part of the Princeton Environmental Film Festival and it is now available for checkout as a DVD.
