Princeton Public Library Presents Community Pride Picnic June 3

The second annual Princeton Community Pride Picnic will be Friday, June 3, 5-7:30 p.m., in the courtyard at the Princeton Shopping Center, 301 N. Harrison St., Princeton.

A gathering in celebration of Princeton’s LGBTQIA+ community, the family-friendly picnic features music, games, giveaways and activities for all ages. Rain date is June 5.

Local dignitaries including state Sen. Andrew Zwicker and Mayor Mark Freda will be in attendance, along with representatives from several community groups and nonprofits who will offer activities and information at display tables.

“I’m looking forward to attending this event again this year,” said Freda. “Between the flag-raising ceremony at the municipal building earlier that day, the picnic, the dance party at the Arts Council that evening and the June 18 Bayard Rustin Center parade, it’s clear that, in Princeton, there’s never too much Pride.”

Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic or enjoy a courtyard dinner from one of the many dining options at Princeton Shopping Center (princetonshopping center.com). Rita’s Water Ice will be offering free water ice to children.

Entertainment and activities include DJ Mona of Mon Amie Events NYC, a bubble show by OMG Bubbles, hula hoops with Color Me Hoopy, queer yoga, a collaborative community mural, face painting and more.

The planning committee for the Princeton Community Pride Picnic was led by Janie Hermann of Princeton Public Library in collaboration with other library staff, McCarter Theatre Centre, HiTOPS, the Princeton Civil Rights Commission, Princeton Human Services, YWCA Princeton and Princeton YMCA and host sponsor, Princeton Shopping Center.
