Princeton Residents Among New Jersey's Wealthiest

The third richest person in the state lives in Princeton.

In a report released this week by njbiz.com, the 50 wealthiest residents in New Jersey, their hometown, and source of income was divulged.

Princeton resident Andrew Shechtel checked in at No. 3. The 55-year-old’s net worth is $5 billion, although njbiz.com notes that “an individual with “knowledge of Shechtel’s finances” told NJBIZ Shechtel has given away nearly $5 billion to charities during a multiyear period. The individual said Shechtel’s resulting net worth is approximately $125 million.”

He earned that money through hedge funds.

Princeton resident Jesse Treu also made the top 30. The 67-year-old’s $540 million net worth landed him at No. 28 on the list. His source of wealth is listed as “health care venture capital.”

The state’s wealthiest resident is David Alan Tepper, of Livingston, who has an estimated worth of $10B thanks to investments.
