Princeton Schools Name New Principal At Riverside School
He was unanimously approved by the Board of Education at the July 24 meeting.

PRINCETON, NJ — Mark Shelley has been named the new principal at Riverside Elementary School, the Princeton Public School District announced on Wednesday.
The Princeton Board of Education unanimously approved the nomination of Shelley, who is the current Humanities Supervisor at Princeton High School, to the position on July 24. He will assume the role as of Aug. 1.
Shelley is nationally certified and has over 20 years of teaching experience, according to the district. He is trained as an instructional coach by the state of New Jersey, served as a coach for Odyssey of the Mind while teaching in South Carolina, and coached both basketball and cross-country during his time as a teacher at the high school.

As Supervisor of Humanities, Mr. Shelley has been instrumental in helping revise the summer reading program so that it fosters for students choice, joy, and an exploration of diverse genres and cultures.
He helped infuse racial literacy and non-dominant narratives into the social studies curriculum, and he worked closely with the special education supervisor to support co-teaching teams within the department.

“Mark is a true instructional leader whose kindness and care for children and adults is apparent in all he says and does,” Princeton Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Cochrane said. “His intelligence, integrity, and deep desire to learn with and from others make him an exemplary educator and leader. He is joining a truly caring community at Riverside, and I know he looks forward to getting to know all of Riverside’s staff, parents, and children.”
