Princeton University Football 2016: Everything You Need To Know For Saturday's Season Opener

The Tigers open the season Saturday night at home against Lafayette.

Princeton, NJ -- The temperature outside might have you fooled, but fall is just around the corner, and another season of Princeton University football is on the horizon.

The seniors on this year’s Tigers team played on the program’s 2013 Ivy League championship team, and would like to bring home another conference title in 2016.

Those senior captains include Dorian Williams, who won the John P. Poe–Richard W. Kazmaier Trophy last season. For a full season preview, visit princeton.edu.

Princeton was picked to finish fifth in the conference by media covering the league in the preseason. Harvard was picked to win the title, and Penn is also a title contender.

Princeton opens with a home game against Lafayette on Saturday night, Sept. 17, 5 p.m. (see the full schedule here), but once it gets to the conference games, there will be an experimental rule in place this season, as teams will kick off from the 40-yard line. The experimental rule is designed to cut down on possible concussions during kickoffs.
