Princeton University Football Team Fumbles Away Lead in Loss to Colgate

Dre Nelson opened the scoring with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, but the Princeton University football team couldn’t hold on in a 31-30 loss to Colgate on Saturday, according to espn.com.

The Tigers scored the first 16 points of the game, as Quinn Epperly added to the lead with a 1-yard touchdown run and Nolan Bieck kicked a 38-yard field goal, all in the first quarter.

However, Colgate closed the lead to two points by outscoring Princeton, 21-7, in the second quarter.

The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter, and Jonah Bowman kicked the winning 23-yard field goal for Colgate in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.

Colgate won its fourth game in a row to improve to 4-2.

Princeton wrapped up its non-conference slate by falling to 2-2.

Connor Michelsen threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Matt Costello in the second quarter and Will Powers scored on a 12-yard touchdown run in the third.
