Princeton University Football Team Looks to Rebound at Cornell Saturday

The Tigers lost their first conference game to Harvard last weekend.

The Princeton University football team is looking to rebound from its first Ivy League loss of the season against a team still seeking its initial victory of 2014.

The Tigers (3-3, 2-1) visit Cornell (0-6, 0-3) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Princeton is coming off a 49-7 loss to Harvard.

With the win, Harvard maintained a first-place tie in the conference with Dartmouth (5-1, 3-0). The teams play for first place this weekend at Dartmouth.

The loss knocked Princeton into a tie for second with Yale (5-1, 2-1), which hosts Columbia (0-6, 0-3) on Saturday.

Princeton leads the all-time series with Cornell, 58-36-2, according to cornellbigred.com.

Quarterback Quinn Epperly leads the Tigers with eight rushing touchdowns, good enough for second place overall in the Ivy League, according to statistics posted on ivyleague.com.

He also has three passing touchdowns and is averaging 173.2 passing yards per game. Connor Michelsen also has three touchdown passes for the Tigers, and is averaging 111.3 passing yards per game.

Cornell quarterback Jake Jatis is averaging 77.8 passing yards per game, and has thrown three touchdown passes in the 2014 campaign. Kyle Gallagher is averaging 23.8 passing yards.

Princeton running back Will Powers has four rushing touchdowns and is averaging 36.2 yards per game.

Wide receiver Matt Costello has four touchdown receptions and is averaging 63.7 yards per game, while Connor Kelley has 57.5 yards per game and one touchdown catch for the Tigers.

For Cornell, Chris Lenz has two touchdown receptions and is averaging 14 yards per game.

Cornell linebacker Miles Norris is second in the conference in both tackles per game (8.7) and sacks (4.5).

Princeton linebacker Rohan Hylton has 8.5 tackles per game and 3.5 sacks.
