Princeton University Football Team Returns to Practice Field Aug. 27

The Tigers return 14 all-conference selections from last year's 5-5 team.

The Princeton University football team will return to practice on Aug. 27 with 14 players who were named all-conference last season, but the Tigers are the only team in the Ivy League without an experienced quarterback, according to the Princeton Packet.

Coach Bob Surace told the Packet he may use a multiple quarterback system, as Spring Game MVP Chad Kanoff, Kedric Bostic and John Lovett are all competing for the starting job.

Seth DeValve and Matt Arends are the captains this season. Arends is moving from safety to linebacker, with Khamal Brown set to take over Arends’ old position, according to the report.

Under NCAA rules, Princeton coaches are not permitted to work with their players between May 4 and Aug. 27, according to the report. When Surace sees his players around town and the university, he says the summer is a good time to talk about life before getting into football mode at the end of August.

Princeton was 5-5 last season, 4-3 in the Ivy League. They were pegged to finish fourth in the league at the conference’s media day last week.
