Princeton University Student Named Rhodes Scholar

Nicolette C. D'Angelo, a senior at Princeton University, was among 32 Americans to be chosen as Rhodes Scholars representing the U.S.

PRINCETON, NJ — A senior at Princeton University was among 32 Americans to be chosen as Rhodes Scholars representing the United States.

Nicolette C. D’Angelo of Hewitt is a pursuing an A.B. in Classics at Princeton University.

"Nicolette’s research puts contemporary issues in conversation with ancient works, interrogating society’s potential biases, interests, and assumptions. Nicolette’s translation, and original interpretation, of Euripides’ Supplicants elevated the perspective of the maternal community in the tragedy, countering centuries of neglect by scholars,"

D’Angelo also teaches Latin to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Princeton Young Achievers.

Rhodes Scholarships provide all expenses for two or three years of study at the University ofOxford in England and may allow funding in some instances for four years.

At Oxford, D’Angelo will pursue the M.St. in Classics.
