PRINCETON, NJ — Stumpy's Hatchet House will be opening its Princeton location on Saturday. The new location at 745 Alexander Road will open on Satuday Nov. 30 with an open house event from noon to 3 p.m.

The mayor will be at the event for a ribbon-cutting with local catering being offered and an opportunity for guests to see the space and try some hatchet throwing.

The location is BYO for patrons to bring in their own drinks and food. Although Stumpy's does plan to offer cheese platters.

The 8,750 square foot space offers 13 pits in two different areas — a deck and lodge area, said Scott Kuppe, owner of the Princeton location.

"The lodge area will feel like a cabin with comfortable chairs," Kuppe said. "It aligns with Stumpy's overall look. It will also highlight the stone work and fireplace in the space."

There will be eight pits in the lodge area and five in the deck area.

"The deck feels more like outside, but you won't actually be outside," Kuppe said. "It will have large windows and a wood wall feature in the back. It will have a more industrial feel with metal work."

At Stumpy's patrons have the opportunity to take turns hurling their hatchet at a target, honing in on their form and technique in a safe, controlled throwing pit.

This will be the seventh location in New Jersey followed by locations in Green Brook, Hackettstown, Fairfield, Saddle River, Eatontown, and Delran.
