Progressive Rising Endorses Lisa McCormick for Congress

Progressive Rising is proud to announce its endorsement of Lisa McCormick for U.S. House of Representatives.

Lisa McCormick, who earned a dazzling four of ten Democratic primary votes in her 2018 race for US Senate, has been fighting for the working class with a considerable degree of success, according to Ken Riter, the chairman of Progressive Rising.

"It's more important than ever to help elect leaders up and down the ballot who will fight for bold reforms and put people first," said Riter. "New Jersey needs leaders in Congress who reflect the decency and dignity of the American people, but it has become rare to find someone in elected office who speaks the truth and will fight for those whose voices are too often overlooked."

"We dictate our future of by paying attention to the issues that impact Americans. It is important we elect someone to Congress who will ensure we are represented and supported. Lisa McCormick will fearlessly lead our nation. She will put us first and stand for issues that truly matter to us."

"Hard work combined with dedication is the key to great results. Lisa will work to make health care available for all citizens, to outlaw bribery in all forms, to find an alternative to fossil fuels and she will dedicate her time in office to investing in our people," said Riter.

"Perhaps there is not greater indicator of our need to focus on justice than the fact that more peaceful protestors and journalists have been jailed in the past week than all the bankers who were locked up for fraud during the financial collapse."

"I am calling on voters to rise up to the responsibility of their citizenship," said McCormick. "New Jersey's calcified, cartoonishly corrupt and incompetent political establishment has backed fools, frauds and fiends. Now they are asking voters to make the same mistakes again but if you want to end politics as usual, then you have to stop voting for the usual politicians."

McCormick is a progressive champion challenging incumbent Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman for the Democratic nomination for Congress in New Jersey's 12th District, which includes parts of Mercer, Somerset, Middlesex and Union counties.

Progressive Rising is an independent political action committee that aligns itself with progressive movement champions emboldened by the ideas of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

"We work to support progressive candidates around the nation who refuse to accept corporate PAC money and support Medicare For All single-payer health care, a Green New Deal, racial justice, and other political reform policies," said Riter.
