Prosecutor To Discuss Human Trafficking At Mercer County College
Angelo Onofri will discuss human trafficking as modern slavery, including in the county, during a lecture at the college.

A Trenton man who recently admitted to forcing a 17-year-old girl to engage in prostitution for his profit will play a role in an upcoming lecture at Mercer County Community College.
Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri will speak about human trafficking during a lecture at Mercer County Community College on Tuesday, the college announced. “Human Trafficking: Modern Slavery” is the topic of the lecture scheduled for noon on March 20 in the Communications Building, Room 107.
His talk is part of the college’s spring 2018 Distinguished Lecture Series at the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The lecture is free and open to the public. Onofri will discuss who human traffickers are, who the victims are, and how victims are coerced and controlled.

The lecture will also address the business of human trafficking and human trafficking in Mercer County, including the recent arrest and conviction of 28-year-old Breion Turner, who pleaded guilty last month to holding a 17-year-old runaway hostage and forcing her to engage in prostitution. In addition to the sex trade, Onofri will explore human trafficking in the labor and farming industry.
Onofri was sworn in as Mercer County prosecutor on Dec. 28, 2016, after being appointed by Gov. Chris Christie and unanimously confirmed by the New Jersey Senate. He served as acting prosecutor since March 2015.
