Pu Rung Wen
Former Fairleigh Dickinson professor of mechanical engineering died in Princeton at age 91.
Dr. Pu Rung Wen, 91, died with his family at his side in Princeton Aug. 4.
Born in Jieyang, Guangdong Province, China, on May 30, 1920, he was the youngest of nine children.
Orphaned at a young age, raised by his Christian family, he lived through the tumultuous times of wartime China. In the aftermath of World War II he oversaw the transfer of U.S. military supplies remaining from the Pacific Theater to mainland China.

He first married Tien Hung Chun in Taiwan in 1954. In 1958 he moved to the United States to pursue advanced degrees at the University of Idaho and Penn State University, completing his doctorate in Engineering Mechanics.
After the passing of his first wife, he married Lan-Fun Li in St. Louis in 1969. He was a longtime professor of mechanical engineering and imparted the importance of precision in all aspects of his life. He served as the chairman of Mechanical Engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University and retired in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Lan-Fun Li, daughters Hsiao and Kwang, sons Ben and Peter, and four grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for Saturday, Aug. 13, at noon at the Mather Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Chinese Christian Church of New Jersey, 232 South Beverwyck Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054.
