Republican Challenger for Mercer County Sheriff Promises No Double Dipping

David C. Jones collects a pension, but says he will stop while in office if elected, according to New Jersey Watchdog.

The Republican challenger in this year’s Mercer County Sheriff’s race vowed to stop collecting his public pension if elected in November, New Jersey Watchdog reports.

Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler collects a $142,499 salary as sheriff and a $84,828 pension as a retired county undersheriff, according to the report.

David C. Jones collects a $90,648 pension as a retired State Police major, but says he will stop collecting that pension if he defeats the incumbent Democrat in the Nov. 4 election.
