Special Event Radio Stations mark Battles of Trenton and Princeton

Each year, the Delaware Valley Radio Association operates special event amateur radio stations to commemorate the battles of Trenton and Princeton. Fought during the holiday season of 1776 and 1777, historians consider these operations a major turning point that tipped the balance towards the American cause during the War for Independence.

• W2T, commemorating the Battle of Trenton, will be on the air December 26 to 31.
• W2P, commemorating the Battle of Princeton, will be on the air January 1 to 7.

The stations will originate from the DVRA’s amateur radio operations center in West Trenton, N.J. It is located on the very route General George Washington and his men took on their way to Trenton after a series of clandestine ferry landings, moving men and matériel across the Delaware River from Pennsylvania to New Jersey.

Other 'hams' - amateur radio operators – that successfully make contact with the DVRA will be eligible to receive ‘QSL’ cards, specially designed postcards used to confirm contact between amateur radio stations.
