Police Investigate Graffiti In Bathroom Of Mercer Co. School

PRINCETON, NJ — Police were called to a West Windsor high school after a "graffiti message" was found scribbled in the women's bathroom. Although details of the message have not been released, police determined it to be a "non-credible threat." This is the third incident in Mercer County this week.

Additional officers have now been placed across all schools in the district.

On Wednesday evening, a shooting threat was found in a bathroom at Hightstown High School and the same morning, a student was found with a loaded handgun at another school district in the county. The school was put on lockdown and no injuries were reported.

On Friday morning, High School South administration and the West Windsor Police Department investigated a report of a graffiti message on High School South women’s bathroom stall, police said. Details of the message have not been released.

“The High School administration and the West Windsor police department will continue to monitor and investigate,” West Windsor police said.

“West Windsor Police have a daily presence on our school grounds with our Class III officers. Moreover, officers will be in and around the area for an additional presence,” police said.

Authorities have asked students to report anything they find suspicious or concerning.

On Wednesday morning, Lawrence High School was put on lockdown after a student was found with a loaded handgun, police confirmed.

Working with the School Resource Officer Steven Austin, district authorities immediately located the student and conducted a search, during which a loaded handgun was found. The student was immediately taken into custody without incident and charged, Lawrence Township Police said.

The same evening, students reported a shooting threat scribbled on the wall of the boy's bathroom at Hightstown High School (HHS). The school administrative team immediately initiated an investigation and has been working with the Hightstown Police Department to determine who was responsible for the comment on the wall, school Superintendent Mark Daniels said.

Additional officers are placed at all East Windsor schools for the next few days.
