Suspected Tornado Causes Flooding In Mercer Co. Thursday
Thursday night's suspected tornado caused flooding, downed trees, and power cuts. Here are the details:
MERCER COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service is investigating a tornado that hit Mercer County on Thursday night.
According to officials, the tornado was spotted near Mercerville-Hamilton Square near Trenton at 6:30 p.m., causing flooding, downed trees, and power cuts in many parts of the county. Two tornado warnings were sent out in the area around 5:50 p.m. and 6 p.m., lasting till 6:45 p.m. Affected areas include Trenton, Ewing, Princeton, Hightstown, Bordentown, Cranbury, Pennington, New Hope, Yardley, Hopewell, Allentown, Washington Crossing, Princeton Meadows, Windsor, Plainsboro Center, Woodside, Edinburg, Crosswicks, White Horse and Twin Rivers.

Flooding caused many road closures in Princeton on Thursday evening. The following roads were closed:
- Rosedale Road from Elm Road to Province Line.
- Mercer Road
- Quaker Road
- Winfield Road and Mountain Ave
- Christopher Drive from Walker Dr to Rosedale Rd.
As of Friday morning, all roads were re-opened.

Lawrenceville:
Princeton Pike was closed in both directions between Lewisville Road and Fackler Road due to flooding on Thursday. The road was reopened Friday morning. Parts of Lawrenceville also lost power due to heavy winds and rain.

East Windsor
Widespread flooding also occurred in East Windsor with many residents also losing power. Rescue teams were on the roads helping drivers.
West Windsor
West Windsor Police issued an alert around 7:42 p.m. on Thursday asking drivers to turn around and not enter flooded areas. “There are too many roads for officers to block at this time. Any road that has water flooding it will damage your electrical system and flood your car. We have dozens of cars stuck in roadways at this time,” police said.
