Traffic Enforcement, Road Construction: Princeton This Week

PRINCETON, NJ — Welcome to another edition on Monday manual, where we tell you what's happening in Princeton.

We'll begin with road construction and parking.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, electrical conduit crossings will be installed on Witherspoon Street and Wiggins Street near the intersection of Paul Robeson Place/Wiggins Street. PSE&G Electricis also expected to start on light pole installation this week between Nassau Street and Spring Street.

On Monday, PSE&G Gas will replace services between Hulfish Street and Paul Robeson Place, as a result traffic will be detoured. The curb ramp and sidewalk work near the University has been temporarily put on hold. Work will resume in a few weeks.

Witherspoon Street between Hulfish Street and Paul Robeson Place will be closed to traffic traveling northbound on Monday and Tuesday. Southbound traffic will be detoured to Wiggins Street or Paul Robeson Place. Traffic on Hulifsh Street will be detoured to Spring Street.

Wiggins Street between Witherspoon Street and Sylvia Beach Way will be closed to traffic traveling westbound on Wiggins Street on Wednesday. Traffic will be detoured to Vandeventer Avenue. Access to the Spring Street Garage will be available from Sylvia Beach Way.

From Wednesday to Friday, Witherspoon Street between Hulfish Street and Paul Robeson Place will be reduced to one lane of traffic northbound during the construction of the curb and sidewalk. Detour signage will be in place and no parking will be allowed in this area during this time.

During the month of April, the Traffic Safety Bureau along with the Patrol Bureau will have directed enforcement on the following streets:

  • Terhune Road (speeding)
  • Great Road (speeding - trucks)
  • Nassau Street (distracted driving)
  • Snowden Lane (speeding)

Residents will see an increase in police presence in these areas with strict enforcement of motor vehicle laws.

On Friday, municipal offices will be closed in observance of Good Friday.
