The retailer has received an administrative waiver that will allow the store to occupy the first and second floors of the five story building.
Talbots plans to move to 38 Nassau Street, which is currently occupied by , Newton said. Both Talbots stores will merge into the single location.
Urban Outfitters submitted, and received approval, through Princeton’s Historic Preservation Plan Review, to remove Talbot’s distinctive red front door, transom and side lights.
The company plans to install a new, taller steel door with tempered glass and steel framed side lights, transom and a vestibule inside the entrance.
A non-illuminated Urban Outfitters sign would protrude four inches from the building's façade.
