Urban Outfitters May be Coming to Palmer Square

Urban Outfitters may be moving to 42 Nassau Street, into the space currently occupied by .

Urban Outfitters has not yet signed a lease with , Vice President David Newton said Wednesday.  

“We’re close to finishing up on things,” Newton said. “ I don’t want to get everyone too excited, but it’s positive.”

Accoring to the Urban Outfitters website, the company sells "clothing, accessories, and apartment wares for young women and men."

The retailer has received an administrative waiver that will allow the store to occupy the first and second floors of the five story building.

Talbots plans to move to 38 Nassau Street, which is currently occupied by , Newton said. Both Talbots stores will merge into the single location.

Urban Outfitters submitted, and received approval, through Princeton’s Historic Preservation Plan Review, to remove Talbot’s distinctive red front door, transom and side lights.

The company plans to install a new, taller steel door with tempered glass and steel framed side lights, transom and a vestibule inside the entrance.

A non-illuminated Urban Outfitters sign would protrude four inches from the building's façade.
