Visit Princeton's Morven Museum For Free On Museum Day 2021
Smithsonian Magazine's 17th annual Museum Day will be held Sept. 18. The event gives free access for one day to museums across the country.
PRINCETON, NJ — After a long year of coronavirus closures and other restrictions, gather your family or your best group of friends to enjoy a day of free admission at The Morven Museum and Garden in Princeton.
Smithsonian Magazine’s 17th annual Museum Day will take place Sept. 18 at select museums in New Jersey and in other cities across the country.
This year’s theme, "Experience America," celebrates "the return to, and resurgence of, our country's diverse cultural experiences," following closures due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release.

Located at 55 Stockton Street, Morven is a national historic landmark and situated on five acres in the heart of Princeton. This former New Jersey Governor’s Mansion showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Garden State through regular exhibitions, educational programs, and special events.
The events on Museum Day begin from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On display will be the exhibit, "Historic Morven: A Window Into America’s Past." This newly reimagined first-floor permanent exhibition will be open with docent-led tours at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. "In Nature's Realm: The Art of Gerard Rutgers Hardenbergh," will be showcased on the second floor and is a self-guided exhibition.

There will also be a family treasure hunt with collectible coin prizes throughout the day.
The day will also include an interactive family guide distributed to all visitors.
Those who register for new memberships on Museum Day will receive a special gift, while supplies last.
The purpose of Museum Day, according to a release, is to promote equal access to the wide array of museums in the United States, especially among children and underrepresented communities.
Museum-goers can head to the Museum Day website to download their ticket. Each ticket grants the ticket holder and one guest free, timed access to any participating museum. One ticket is permitted per email address.
