Racing Simulators, VR Arenas Coming To Princeton North Shopping Center

PRINCETON, NJ — A virtual reality entertainment company is bringing its games and simulators to the Princeton area. oasisVRX is opening its second New Jersey site at the Princeton North Shopping Center. They currently have a location in Holmdel.

The new location has more than 30 VR and motion experiences, the company said. They include multiplayer free-roam VR arenas, motion and racing simulators and personal VR stations. The company said the activities are designed for guests of different ages and experience levels.

oasisVRX calls its approach "Active Entertainment." Unlike a traditional arcade, the company said, its attractions get guests moving and interacting instead of just watching a screen.

"oasisVRX is about much more than putting on a VR headset," said Todd Schobel, the company's founder. "People want to do something together. They want to laugh, compete, move around, and experience something they can't recreate at home."

Guests can explore multiplayer virtual worlds with friends and family, race one another in the simulators or try solo VR experiences. The site can also host birthday parties, family outings, school and youth groups, corporate team-building events and larger group celebrations.

The company has run its Holmdel location for more than eight years. Schobel said that experience shaped the new site.

"Princeton gives us the opportunity to take everything we've learned in Holmdel and build an even bigger experience around that idea," he said.

The expansion is also part of a larger plan. oasisVRX said it is using the Princeton area opening as a foundation to grow into other markets.

"We believe there is a significant opportunity in Active Entertainment," said Andrew Litt, the company's chief operating officer. "Our goal is to create destinations where families, friends, coworkers, and groups can walk in and have an experience they'll be talking about afterward."
