That is close to a half a pound a day, which is a 19 fold increase over what was consumed just 300 years ago. The daily consumption of sugar should be below 25 grams per day. One 12 ounce can of Coke contains 39 grams of sugar, which is more sugar than you should consume in a day and a half!

If you tried quitting sugar in the past and failed, you are not alone. Sugar stimulates the same addictive centers of the brain as cocaine does and processed junk foods are engineered to be addicting.
