RAMSEY, NJ — Fall is a great time to get outside, and Ramsey-area residents have several nearby hiking destinations to explore as the leaves change.
Here are three places to consider for an autumn outing.
Ramapo Valley County Reservation, located at 608 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah, offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the fall scenery. Spanning more than 4,000 acres, the Bergen County park offers marked hiking trails through wooded hills, along the Ramapo River and past several ponds.
Another local option is Campgaw Mountain Reservation, located at 200 Campgaw Road in Mahwah. The 1,373-acre park has trails ranging from easier walks near the base of the mountain to more challenging hikes toward the summit.
Ringwood State Park, located at 1304 Sloatsburg Road in Ringwood, is another nearby option for fall hiking. Hikers can take the 1.2-mile Shepherd Lake Trail or choose a longer route through the park.
Before heading out, visitors should check official park websites for current advisories and trail conditions.
