Bergen County Man Busted on Sexual Assault Charges

A Bergen County man was arrested last week on sexual assault charges, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.

Luis Hignio Elias Velasco, 41, of Cliffside Park was arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with an 11-year-old girl, according to Molinelli. The victim informed a New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency caseworker who then alerted authorities.

Hignio was charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Bail was set at $500,000 with no ten percent option. Hignio was also forced to surrender his passport and avoid contact with the victim.
