Bergen County Man Rescued From Passaic River After Route 3 Motorcycle Crash: Report

Man was flung off his motorcycle and fell 50 feet down into the river.

A man was rescued from the Passaic River Thursday night after he was flung from his motorcycle and dropped 50 feet during an accident on Route 3 in Rutherford.

Jason Montoni was traveling westbound on Route 3 at about 6:45 p.m. when his motorcycle hit a car and fell into the river, The Record reported.

Police threw Montoni an inflatable life vest from Riverside Avenue, which runs along the water and the Rutherford Fire Department’s Rescue Company got to him 10 minutes later, the report states.

Montoni was taken to the nearby Nereid Boat Club and then to Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injures to his left shoulder and right leg, police told The Record.
