Borough Applies For Grant To Improve Finch Park

If granted, a proposed upgrade would make one section of the park more friendly to pedestrians, bikers

is in the process of applying for a Bergen County Open Space grant that would help add a pathway to a section of Finch Park, borough Business Administrator Bruce Vozeh said at a mayor and council meeting Wednesday night.

The proposed park improvement would create a pathway from the main parking lot to the end of the lot by the 9/11 Memorial, he said. The patch would provide a “safer” route on that side of the park for pedestrians and bicyclists, Vozeh said.

It would also “fit in with the Master Plan of the park,” which the business administrator said calls for more fluid walking opportunities around the facility.

The grant would be matching, so half of the project would be paid for by the county grant, and the other half would be paid for by the borough. More details about the potential funding and the specifics of the project will be “fine tuned after we find out [whether or not we get the money],” Vozeh said.
